Altered Spoon - Trash To Treasure

Hi, crafty friends!
I am back again to share with you my project I created for our new challenge at Stamps and Stencils
Our lovely Autumn  has chosen the challenge theme for this month -'Trash To Treasure'.

Here is how she describes her challenge theme:
Don't we all love a good upcycled project?  This month we'd love to see how you take something that you'd normally discard and give it new life in your art.  Whether it's glamorized boxes, Styrofoam turned into a stamp, packaging that's been die cut, or another altered idea you have.  Bring on your best mixed media repurposing!  We can't wait to see what you come up!  Don't forget to use stamps or stencils in your project.

I decided to alter an old spoon I've got from a thrift shop years ago and here is what I came up with:

I started with adding my metal elements and a coat of black gesso on top.
Then I used my Decoart Metalic Lustre in several different tones and a dry brush technique to add some highlights.
I created a bird nest, added some broken eggs and some feathers.
I used one of my Tim Holtz stamps on a distressed piece of cardstock and attached it to my nest using one of my Idealogy pins.

Here is the close up photo:

I attached a vintage tea spoon with a piece of wire and I used my art stones to add some extra interest to my spoon.

I hope that I have inspired you to join us at Stamps and Stencils this month.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving lovely comments! I read and appreciate each and every one of them!

Hugs! Branka xx
