Mixed Media Striking Beauty

Hi friends and visitors!
It's February already and it's time for a new challenge at Stamps and Stencils!
Our lovely Rachel is hostessing the challenge this month and she has choosen the theme 'Texture, Crackle and Paint'.
This is how she describes her challenge theme:

This month I would love to see what you come up with using texture, crackle and paint! Anything goes using stamps and/or stencils - make it mixed media please. Can't wait to get started - hope you'll join us!

This is such a wonderful theme and I decided to pull out my handmade art journal, my Golden heavy body acrylic paints and my hand carved stamp to create an art journal spread.
This is what I came up with.

I started with applying some ephemera bits and pieces and a coat of gesso on top of it. Then I continued with some intuitive painting using my Golden heavy body acrylic paints diluted with a bit of water. I stamped the image using my hand carved stamp onto the tissue paper on both sides to achieve a random look. I used black Archival ink. Then I glued down my stamped tissue paper using my Golden matte medium.
For more texture I used my Dina Wakley stencil and my Amsterdam fluo paints.
I cut out some circles out of an old book paper and covered them with Distress Crackle paint in Clear Rock Candy since I wanted to get a shiny crackled look. Then I used my Dylusions inks on top.  I hope you can see those tiny crackles.

For more dimension, I used some scrap pieces of paper and attached them using the tiny attacher. Then I stamped the quote using one of Dina Wakley's stamps.

I love to add some dripps so I decided to use my handmade high flow paint onto my page.

I hope you like my art journal spread as much as I do. I also hope that I have inspired you to create a mixed media piece with some texture, crackle and paint and to join in our challenge at Stamps and Stencils this month.
