Hi, crafty friends!
I am sharing with you a mixed media card I made for my wonderful blog friend and a super talented teamie Autumn for her birthday!
I decided to use a faux rust technique with some of my favourite dies and to create my own patterned paper as a background.
Here is what I came up with.
I used a piece of a manila cardstock and put a coat of white gesso using my palette knife. Then I used my Iced Spruce Distress Inak pad directly onto my surface. Next I used my Multi Medium and a brush to move the ink around the manila card surface.
To achieve a more stucco look without any brush marks, I used my baby wipe to manipulate the mixture of Matte Medium and a DI. Once dry, it becomes permanent.
I used my Watering Can Archival ink and the Tim Holtz Large Distress Damask stamp to create a pattern on my background. I distressed the edges with my DI in Vintage photo and attached the whole thing onto my kraft card base.
I pulled out some of my favourite dies to cut out the shapes out of the cardstock. I used my Spellbinders Seth Apter's die (Robo circle), Tim Holzt mixed media die, Cottage Cutz Doodle Flower set #2 and my Sizzix Heart Wings Bigz die for this project.
I decided to achieve a rust effect on my die cuts and you can check out my faux rust technique tutorial HERE.
I love to add some fabrics on my projects so I cut a stripe of a vintage cotton fabric and glued it down onto my patterned background.
I used my Distress embossing powders in Vintage photo and Black soot onto my heart die cut and applied some Decoart media White Antiquing cream on some spots.
I also used Tim's Big Chat sticker book and some remnant rubs for the sentiment.
This is it for today! I hope you like my faux rust birthday card :)
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving lovely comments! I read and appreciate each and every one of them!
Hugs! Branka xx
