Shabby Garden Altered Clock

Hello, everyone!
I am here today to share with you my new project I created for our August challenge at Anything But Cute
Our lovely and super talented Lisa is hostessing the challenge and she has chosen the theme 'Shabby Garden Mood Board'.
I was so inspired by beautiful colors of her amazing mood board to alter the clock in shabby style and here is what I came up with.

Now, back to the challenge... This is how Lisa describes her challenge theme:
For this challenge, we are asking you to take a stroll through a romantic shabby garden. Create any mixed media project strongly inspired by the mood board. Think flowers and plants in cracked pots, peeling paint bird feeders, distressed timeworn furniture, crumbling statues, soft pastels and feminine accessories. Don't forget to tell us how the mood board inspired your project and have fun!

I started with a coat of Decoart black gesso on top of my clock. Then I used my Decoart media Crackle paint in white. To achieve a more weathered shabby look of my clock, I used a sand paper randomly.

I had this resin detail in my stash and I dedided to paint it with teal paint and to use a dry brush technique on top with a white gesso. I glued it down on the top part of the clock.  Also, I painted some chipboard foliage using some of my Decoart chalk finish acrylic paints in soft tones.  That little birdcage I had in my stash and I used my Martha Stewart satin acrylic paint in light pink and some white gesso to achieve a more shabby look. It's attached with a piece of a thin wire. I also attached a piece of hand dyed (Distress stains) seam binding on top of my clock.
To create a bird nest I used some sisal fibres, a feather and a little Prima bird nest embellishment.

This beautiful handmade paper flower is a gift from my dear blog friend Samra. I used a water diluted Finnabair Light patina paint randomly on top of the flower. It really gives some cool effect and I saw this awesome idea at the fantastic and inspirational Pamellia's blog post with video tutorial.

That bird on top is actually a Christmas ornament that I painted in some white pearl color and added some light blue patina accents using the same Finnabair diluted paint.  I added a twig that I found in my yard and I attached it with some of my Prima flowers.

This is it for today. I hope you like my shabby garden altered clock and that I have inspired you to join in our 'Shabby Garden Mood Board' challenge at Anything But Cute with some amazing project of yours!

Here at Anything But Cute we just love to see all the seasoned and expert mixed media artists, but we also want to encourage those who are just getting their feet wet. Our design team will always be on the lookout for these exceptional projects and artists. You just never know when we might be giving out something special to a lucky mixed media newcomer. We all have to start somewhere, right?

Challenge runs until September 4th - we can't wait to see what you come up with!
