Christmas Gift Bag

Hello, everyone!

I am here today to announce that our new challenge at Stamps and Stencils has just started!

Cec is hostessing the challenge this month and she has chosen the theme 'Tag, Bags and Boxes'.
She describes her challenge theme this way:

With Christmas coming up and the gift buying underway, we are going to need something to wrap them in.  Let's make some mixed media tags, bags & boxes that will be as treasured by the recipient as the gift itself.  Don't forget to include some stamping or stenciling.

***

I have decided to create a Christmas gift bag and here is what I came up with:

I started with these:

I used my kraft gift bag and put a coat of white gesso on the front side of the bag using my palette knife. Then I used my stars stencil and my Mica flakes gel in pearl white on top. I found the metal star ornament in my stash and I thought that it would be just perfect for my focal element. I wanted to achieve a patina effect on the star so I used my Distress paint in Tumbled glass and my Espresso alcohol ink to imitate the patina look.

I cut out the sentiment out of a Christmas bag, I distressed the edges and glued it down on the bottom of my bag. I also added some gold sequins randomly onto my gift bag.

I had a Christmas branch in my stash and decided to attach it on top of the bag, as well as the vintage ribbon bow. I added some twine bow with small bells to create a more dimensional look.  I attached the whole decoration with a mini white wooden cloth spin.

For the center piece I cut out a snowflake using my Sizzix Layered Snowflake die and a piece of cardstock. I used my Brick and Verdigris Antiquities embossing powders on top of my snowflake. I cut out a smaller snowflake using another Sizzix Bigz die and used my Stampendous Shabby blue embossing enamel to add some shimmer. I also used my Liquid pearls in white pearl color onto my snowflake. I glued down my rust/patina star on top of my dimensional snowflake.
I wanted to add some more texture to my bag so I applied my gold glitter paste randomly onto the edges of my bag.

I hope that I have inspired you to create your mixed media piece for our 'Tags, Bags and Boxes' challenge at Stamps and Stencils!

  18. Branka, I'm so sorry I missed this, but delighted I get to see your gorgeous Christmas gift bag this morning! What a lovely background, and those glittery and pearly snowflakes and rustic finished star look great as the focal image! I love the patina on the star, and am going to give this a try on a future project! The rusted snowflake is my favorite, but I love the layered trio as a package. Geddit? 'Package'? Sending you lots of love this morning!
