Hello, everyone!
It's September already and it's time for a new challenge at Stamps and Stencils.
Our hostess for this month is Rachel and she has chosen the theme 'The Colors of Autumn'!
This is how she describes her challenge theme:
Reds, oranges, golds and browns - use these in a mixed media creation. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
I was inspired by Rachel's awesome theme to create an Autumn art journal page and here is what I came up with.
First, I pulled out my Brushos in different colors and some thin watercolor paper and started to create my backgrounds.
As you can see, I ended up with some cool watercolor effects here.
I used the Tim Holtz Tattered leaves die to cut out my leaves out of my papers.
To finish the look of my leaves, I used Tim's leaves stamp set and my Archival inks in different colors that coordinated my papers.
These are my finished leaves.
I decided to use my handmade art journal for this project. I covered the page with some masking tape and sealed it with my Liquitex matte medium. Then I put a coat of a white gesso on top.
I used my acrylic paints in brown tones all over the page. Then I used my Liquitex Raw umber paint mixed with the Golden satin glaze liquid onto the edges using my fingers.
I wanted to add more texture to my page, so I used my Tim's Bubbles stencil and my Decoart media Cobalt teal paint randomly. I used the same teal color and my toilet paper rool to 'stamp' some circles.
To attach my leaves I used some yute string and some mini wooden cloth pins.
To add more texture I applied my golden glitter paste here and there.
I cut out some quotes from a book and glued them down using Tim's vintage medium.
I hope that I have inspired you to create your mixed media piece for our 'The Colors Of Autumn' challenge at Stamps and Stencils!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving lovely comments! I read and appreciate each and every one of them!
Hugs! Branka xx
